Instructor Profiles

Punong Guro Shelley Millspaugh
The Man!  Guro Shelley started this group in 1993.  He is currently living and teaching
in the Kansas City area.  He holds the rank of Lakan Walo (8th Dan) and is the Chief
Instructor for the Midwest.  His expertise in Kombatan is unmatched in the region, and
he also has vast knowledge of many other arts, namely Kuntao Silat.  He is also a Lt.
Master in the 5 Way Method system, having helped create some of the weapons
techniques.  Vincent makes sure that his students know he feels about his teacher:
“The Wichita school will always be ‘Shelley’s house’, I just tend it for him.”

Guro Mitch Clay
Guro Mitch has been Vincent’s right-hand man from day one.  He currently holds the
rank of Lakan Dalawa (2nd Dan).  “Mitch has probably the smoothest movement in the
bunch next to Shelley” says Vincent.  “His espada-y-daga is better than mine, so I rely
on him to show many techniques and teach them.  Mitch is a great martial artist; even
though his skill are formidable, he remains humble and a perfect gentleman.”   Mitch
always assists in teaching, and occasionally takes over the class for Vincent.

Inga Tanner, Trainer
Inga is ranked Lakan Dalawa (2nd Dan) and assists in the junior students in the class.
She also performs many duties for the school outside of class, everything from
contacting students to transportation, etc.  She is well versed in just about every facet
of our arts, and a particularly mean ground fighter.   In addition to studying the arts, Inga
participates in the Kansas Search and Rescue group with her trained dog, Tracer.
She also provides entertainment by antagonizing the instructor on a regular basis...  :0)

Zach Myers, Lakan
Our resident “Monkey Boy”
holds the rank of Lakan Isa
(1st Dan).  Zach assists with
the junior students’ training
along with the rest of the
Lakans.  Zach enjoys
participating in the
demonstration of techniques
during class… the students
know a technique really works
when Zach is laughing from
the pain.  Zach has to be
taken with a grain of salt... he's
tried in vain to change the
school uniform to a shirt and
tie  (believe it, see picture).
The one (and thankfully, the only) Zach Myers.
